How to get to San Francisco International Airport by Bus

SamTrans is a bus service that serves San Mateo County, California. It provides service throughout the region and parts of Palo Alto and San Francisco.

SamTrans Routes 292 and 398 both make direct stops at the airport terminals. Route 292 connects you to San Francisco and the Hillsdale Mall. Bus from Route 292 stops at International Terminal at Courtyard A and Courtyard G, at the curbside of Terminal 3, the Rental Car Center, the United Airlines Maintenance Center, Airport Business Center, and North McDonnell Road.

Route 398 connects to Redwood City Transit Center. The bus that covers this route stops at International Terminal Courtyard A and G and the curbside of Terminal 3.

North McDonnell Road is served by Routes ECR, 292 and 397, which stop at the Airport Business Center and West Field Road.

Airport terminals are not served by Route 140, which only stops at the Rental Car Center. However, you can ride this bus to stop at the AirTrain and Manor / Palmetto.

Taking the 292, and 398 lines between the airport and downtown would cost $2-$5 one way for adults.

Bus stop locations for SamTrans can be located at Terminal 1 at the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level, adjacent to Courtyard 2 on the center island, Terminal 3 at the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level, adjacent to Courtyard 4 on the curbside, and Level 1, adjacent to Courtyard G of the International Terminal.

SamTrans operates 24 hours a day from San Francisco Airport. It also provides limited service on some routes during the late hours of the night. These include Routes ECR and 397, which travel north to Daly City and San Francisco, and south to Palo Alto.
